The community of Gunnison, Colorado is centralized around the mountains that surround it. Those who live here call it their playground; they work hard, and play harder. Every weekend consists of a boat trip down the Taylor River, a multi-pitch in the Black Canyon, a quick backcountry ski trek down Red Lady, or biking the 401 Trail (to name a few things!)
One would believe a community so inspired by the outdoors would be home to a community focused on supporting getting women outside. Still, unfortunately, this community lacks equal representation. Most women are overlooked, feel the need to be “one of the boys,” and lack a support system that encourages femininity in the outdoors. Well, we’re saying “Eff that.”
In partnership with the Shredding Betties, who strive to develop a girl gang that challenges one another, support one another, and is not afraid to speak up when they are not being heard, No Man's Land Film Festival is coming to Gunnison in hopes of creating an event that is surrounded by the idea of female empowerment in the outdoors. At this event, we hope to bring together community and bring awareness to this restricting trend in the outdoor industry.
Proceeds from this event go towards creating a scholarship that will fund outdoor certifications for people who self-identify as female. If you would like to sponsor or donate to our cause please contact: chasepownotmen@gmail.com or (208) 916-6071.
Best,
The Shredding Bettys
