We are proud to partner with Laurentian University's WGSSA (Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Association) for a Film Night and Panel Discussion! Join us on Wednesday, May 23rd at the McEwen School of Architecture. The post-film panel discussion will consist of five local leaders and active community members. These include local filmmakers, activists, adventure guides, athletes and outdoorists who will speak on equality and diversity in outdoor adventure. Let's build a diverse, inclusive and passionate outdoor community together! WGSSA is committed to transform filmgoers into a congregation of committed activists who have a desire to experience their passions and environment through a uniquely female lens. To inspire, engage meaningful conversation, build local alliances and support a shared vision of gender equality in outdoor adventure. We're making our first debut in Tennessee! We are over the moon to announce that Onsight Rock Gym, along with REI Knoxville and Elkmont Exchange Brewery and Eating House, will be hosting unleaSHEd, Knoxville's first ever Women's Adventure Festival to celebrate, inspire and empower women in adventure and exploration! unleaSHEd is a multi-day women's adventure festival with No Man's Land Film Festival to kick off the event on Friday June 22.

The rest of the weekend will be filled with all women clinics and workshops, professional athlete clinics/meet-ups, a women’s climbing competition, food, beer, and lots of partying to celebrate all the amazing women in adventure sports. All proceeds from the film screening, all raffles sales, and all beer donations, plus a portion of the ticket sales from the event will be donated to Girls on the Run of Greater Knoxville. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit GirlVentures. GirlVentures combines outdoor adventure with social-emotional learning for adolescent girls, at a critical time in their lives. From age 11, the Leadership Progression Model builds girls’ confidence, skills, and leadership as they backpack, hike, kayak and rock climb in the Northern California wilderness! They learn from experiential educators and mentors while building life skills that empower them to reach their full potential. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and films begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for member and $12 for the general public. Please come support this wonderful group and celebrate all of the inspiring women in our lives!

The questionnaire also found that six out of every ten women believed men’s interest in outdoor activities are taken more seriously than women’s. Partnering with Fairfield Theatre Company, we at No Man’s Land Film Festival, the country’s only female-focused adventure film festival, aim to change that. Salt Pump Climbing Co. will be hosting clinics and speakers, special yoga classes, and activities throughout the day! We are joining ASI Campus Recreation at Cal Poly Pomona in partnership to bring awareness to the diverse community the outdoors has to offer through a vast array of sports, hobbies, and passions alike! It is our jobs as outdoor stewards to cultivate an open, accessible environment for everyone. We will be offering a variety of activities to run throughout the evening, including a guided night hike through IU's urban woodland, a s'mores booth (what?!), crafts, karaoke, a chance to be entered in a raffle, slack-lining, and a variety of facilitated group activities. The Intermountain Student Outdoor Leadership Symposium (ISOLS) is a 2-day conference-style event for students interested in outdoor leadership. Through discussions, clinics, and workshops participants will gain valuable insight into outdoor leadership, practice new technical skills, and experience diverse forms of networking. This year’s conference will host a networking mixer, a roundtable discussion with local leaders in the outdoors, a formal presentation from our keynote speaker, and a bouldering competition at the University of Utah climbing facility. This will be a unique opportunity for students throughout the intermountain region to meet, mingle, and learn from one another. Any student with a passion for the outdoor leadership is encouraged to join! Tickets are free for those attending ISOLS, general public tickets will be $5.
