No Man’s Land is going to Norway! Not literally, but thanks to The Norwegian Climbing Federation, this is as close as we’ll get in 2020! We are over the moon to join this online event to educate climbing coaches that work for non-profit climbing clubs around the country. The Norwegian Climbing Federation hosts this gathering in-person for coaches once a year, but this year we are doing it a little bit differently. There will be a range of discussions ending with a No Man’s Land film screening. Before the films:
- Presenting the work with an athlete development plan for kids and youth in climbing and a database of exercises that will be available for coaches.
- Pain and injuries - what does a coach need to know?
- How to train youth to prevent injuries.
- Mental development of kids and youth and what’s important to know as a coach.
- Anti-doping Norway: how to build a positive climbing culture without doping.
- Experiences from running one of the oldest para climbing groups in Norway.
- Sexual harassment and what you can do as a coach to foster a harassment-free environment.
- FAQ to a coach that coaches competition climbers.
Sports in Norway is built on a strong foundation of volunteer work, and The Norwegian Climbing Federation works to educate and inspire coaches, and offer training like this for free or a low cost (if in person). Thank you, Norwegian Climbing Federation, for bringing these important discussion topics to the forefront!
