What It Takes: Hillary Gerardi & The 90K du Mont-Blanc
Producer: Black Diamond
Switching gears from shorter distances to a straight-up gnarly 90K ultra through the technical mountains of Chamonix is an admirable feat. But to win? That’s a tall order. For BD Athlete Hillary Gerardi, the transition to longer distances was a goal spawned by a winter of massive days on skis. Having completed the famous 110K Haute Route in a blistering 26 hours with her partner Valentine Fabre—in turn establishing the fastest female time for the route—Hillary felt ready to make the jump into ultra-distances.
First on her list this season was the 90K du Mont-Blanc. With roughly 6,000 meters of vertical gain packed into a technical course traipsing through the craggy alps, the 90K du Mont-Blanc is a true mountain testpiece of Chamonix.
But Hillary didn’t take on this beast alone. She had a crew of friends that put everything they had into seeing Hillary succeed. In this film, we glimpse What It Takes to win an ultra-marathon.

Committed: Babsi Zangerl Sends Sprengstoff (9a)
Producer: Black Diamond
Located near Babsi’s home in Bludenz, Austria, Lorüns is a sport climbing crag that’s home to decades’ old historical routes. Described as a “meeting point” for both the old and younger generations of the Austrian climbing community, Lorüns is close to Babsi’s heart, especially since her partner Jacopo Larcher recently climbed a legendary 30-year-old project, in turn establishing the crag’s hardest route—Sprengstoff (9a), meaning “Explosive” in English.
Unfortunately, Lorüns is part of an area owned by a local quarry company and is under a constant and ever-increasing threat of destruction. This past year, Babsi committed herself to make Sprengstoff’s second ascent, in part to push her climbing, but also to use her ascent to drive awareness to the crag’s impending threat. Follow Babsi as she commits to the fight of Sprengstoff.

Expedition Reclamation is a short documentary seeking to redefine “outdoorsy” and reclaim belonging in the outdoors for Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color by highlighting their joyful, resilient, & transformative relationships to outdoor recreation.
Expedition Reclamation is a part of the Brave Space Project by Brave Space Media. This project is led by an all-women, multi-racial, radically collaborative creative team working to decolonize the outdoors both in front of and behind the lens.
Expedition Reclamation weaves together a tapestry of voices from 12 Black, Indigenous, and women of color who are redefining “outdoorsy” and reclaiming belonging in outdoor culture. This story begins with an honest exploration of how BIPOC communities have always been connected to the land, but how through the lasting lineage of colonialism, spaces of outdoor recreation have systematically excluded them. Our first chapter, “Homesick”, sees our characters reckoning with the reality of colonialism breaking ties to land. Moving into chapter two, “Expedition”, we see our characters rising up to reconnect with the outdoors and with their own roots. In “Reclamation” we revel in the stoke of finding belonging in the outdoors through resilience, healing, and joy. Finally, in “To The Trees,” we hear our characters’ dreams for an inclusive outdoor culture. Emerging from these interwoven experiences is a rally cry to the outdoor industry: to re-examine our understanding of the history of outdoor spaces, to commit to what inclusion really looks like in practice, and to create a better outdoor culture – one that empowers every individual to reach their fullest potential as humans and stewards of this planet and her people.

Finding Gulo
Directors: Colin Arisman + Tyler Wilkinson-Ray
The wolverine (Gulo gulo) is an intrepid and solitary carnivore, historically ranging throughout North America's most rugged and remote regions. However, human persecution decimated their populations, and it seemed that wolverines might disappear from much of their wild homeland. Today, they are recovering in the contiguous U.S. and sightings of the elusive gulo are becoming more frequent among backcountry skiers who visit the West’s most remote mountain ranges.
“Finding Gulo” follows Steph Williams, a ski guide and field biologist as she works with wildlife photographer Dave Moskowitz to capture images and data of a recovering population of wolverines near her home in the North Cascades of Washington State. Steph is on a mission to prove that citizen science can be a critical tool to protect endangered wildlife. As a backcountry skier, Steph has long been concerned about the impacts of climate change, but as her connection deepens with gulo, so does her commitment to grassroots stewardship.
